Google has unveiled innovative AI-driven updates to enhance holiday shopping through its Search and Gemini app. These enhancements aim to make the shopping experience more efficient by enabling users to find, compare, and purchase products with ease. The new AI Mode in Search allows users to describe their desired items naturally, generating structured responses with visual results and comparison tables. Powered by the Shopping Graph, the platform offers up-to-date information from billions of product listings.
The Gemini app now incorporates shopping features in its chat, facilitating idea brainstorming, product comparison, and holiday list creation. Users can access detailed product data, including shoppable listings and vendor information. Google’s agentic AI can also assist in confirming local stock availability by contacting nearby stores and summarizing results using Duplex technology.
Additionally, users can track prices for specific items and receive notifications when they meet set criteria. Google can finalize purchases on certain merchant sites with user approval via Google Pay. These features are now available to U.S. users, with AI Mode and agentic checkout rolling out with select merchants, while Duplex-powered store calls are initially offered for specific categories like toys, health & beauty, and electronics.
