Asian cruise companies are expanding their offerings, providing fresh alternatives for Australian travelers. Mitsui Ocean Cruises, a new premium Japanese line, has entered the market with the Mitsui Ocean Fuji, offering itineraries across Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea. Meanwhile, South Korea’s Eastern Cruise and Saudi-owned Aroya Cruises are making strides, with Aroya even homeporting in Istanbul for a Mediterranean season. Malaysian company StarDream Cruises and India’s Cordelia Cruises are also expanding their reach, with Cordelia extending its itineraries into South-East Asia and Sri Lanka. China is emerging as a significant player, with Adora Cruises launching the first entirely China-built cruise ship, Adora Magic City, and Huaxia International Cruises partnering with Viking Cruises to offer dedicated China itineraries. These developments indicate a shift towards international expansion for some Asian cruise lines, challenging the traditional cruise market.
