Samsung has introduced the Exynos 2600, the world’s first 2nm smartphone chip, set to feature in the Galaxy S26 series early next year. This chip marks a milestone for the company as it incorporates Samsung’s first in-house GPU, the Xclipse 960, developed using AMD’s architecture. While Samsung has previously collaborated with AMD for GPUs since the Exynos 2200, the Exynos 2600’s GPU represents Samsung’s independent effort in GPU development. A GPU is crucial for processing graphics in games and user interfaces, and its efficiency is essential for modern high-end devices like smartphones, tablets, and laptops. Initially, Samsung started developing GPUs for Windows, but after optimizing for low-power and high-performance needs, the company successfully created a mobile GPU for Android.
