Has a counterfeit Samsung phone ring been dismantled in India?

In India, counterfeit products are prevalent across various categories, especially in the smartphone, smartwatch, earbud, tablet, and laptop markets. Among fake mobile phones, replicas of Apple’s iPhone and Samsung’s Galaxy models are most common. A recent operation by local authorities aims to reduce the number of counterfeit Samsung phones available.

Delhi Police, acting on a tip-off, raided a shop in the city on the night of December 13-14, 2025. They discovered a group of individuals manufacturing fake Samsung smartphones using components imported from China. The operation resulted in the arrest of four people involved in producing counterfeit Samsung devices.

The authorities confiscated 512 fake Samsung Galaxy phones, including imitations of the Galaxy S Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold, and Galaxy Z Flip models. The counterfeit phones were intended to be sold for INR 35,000 to INR 40,000 each. Additionally, police seized 124 motherboards, 138 batteries, numerous fake IMEI stickers labeled “Made in Vietnam,” and specialized tools for phone assembly. The crackdown is expected to reduce the availability of fake Galaxy phones in the Indian market.
