On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, Rabat saw the launch of the inaugural National AI Conference, held under the High Patronage of King Mohammed VI. This significant event gathered a diverse group of stakeholders from both the public and private sectors, alongside experts and international organization representatives. The Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform organized the conference under the theme “An efficient and ethical AI strategy to serve our society,” aiming to craft a national AI strategy that addresses the needs of the population and strategic sectors while aligning with royal directives.
Spanning two days, the conference features participants from various ministries, public institutions, the private sector, investment and sovereign funds, Moroccan startups, and international figures from academia and civil society. Discussions focus on 13 thematic areas where AI is anticipated to significantly impact Morocco, including administrative reform, education, healthcare, smart agriculture, industry, security, culture, media, international cooperation, governance, innovation, and infrastructure.
The first day emphasizes technical sessions and showcases innovative AI-driven startups, while the second day delves into the political and international cooperation aspects of AI. The conference will conclude with the presentation of key recommendations and the formalization of several memorandums of understanding with national and international entities.
