Will Samsung introduce steel shell batteries next year?

Samsung is reportedly set to upgrade its battery technology with the introduction of steel shell batteries in its next-generation smartphones starting next year. Initially, there were plans to incorporate silicon-carbon battery technology, possibly debuting with the Galaxy S26 series. However, development challenges have put this on hold, with the company now shifting focus to steel shell batteries. A tipster recently revealed that Samsung plans to implement this new battery technology soon, though it remains unclear which specific smartphone models will feature it first. The Galaxy S26 series, launching next year, is a potential candidate. Additionally, Samsung is developing a technology known as “SUS CAN,” which involves using a steel casing for batteries. Apple has already adopted a similar technology in its iPhone 16 Pro Max model. While official confirmation from Samsung is still pending, the industry is keenly watching for further developments.
