How is PSEB promoting ‘Creators, Not Consumers’ in education?

The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) has taken a significant step in integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into Punjab’s educational framework with the conclusion of a two-day National-Level Conference on AI. Held at the CII Northern Region Headquarters, the event featured practical workshops by tech giants Google and Intel. The conference brought together policymakers, educators, and technology leaders to develop a responsible approach to incorporating AI in classrooms, aiming to improve learning quality and prepare students to be creators of technology.

Dr. Amarpal Singh, the Chairman of PSEB, emphasized the ethical use of AI to enhance creativity and problem-solving skills among students. He highlighted the importance of making thoughtful and ethical choices regarding AI tools, akin to choosing good friends. Dr. Singh urged students to use AI responsibly within a clear legal and ethical framework to ensure technology enhances learning without compromising core values.

Google’s sessions highlighted AI’s transformative role in education, focusing on awareness-building among educators and administrators. Intel’s workshop on “AI in the Workplace” provided practical training on deploying AI tools, emphasizing data privacy and responsible usage. IKG PTU conducted a workshop for school leaders on integrating AI tools into academic management while maintaining academic integrity.

A student-focused workshop by Neeev AI introduced practical AI applications, encouraging students to experiment responsibly. Participants learned about AI development processes, inspiring many to explore careers in AI and related fields. The conference saw enthusiastic participation from Punjab’s students, showcasing their potential for AI-driven learning. Dr. Amarpal praised Elix Events for the successful organization of the conference.
