What does Samsung’s tri-fold phone look like with One UI 8?

Samsung’s latest One UI 8 build has revealed animations that provide a first glimpse of the company’s upcoming tri-fold foldable phone, rumored to be named the Galaxy G Fold. This device features a unique G-shaped fold with two inward-folding hinges, differing from the S-shaped fold seen in competitors like the HUAWEI Mate XT. The Galaxy G Fold is expected to be showcased at the upcoming Samsung Unpacked event, where the company will also reveal its next generation of Galaxy foldables, including the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7.

The animations suggest that the Galaxy G Fold will have three rear panels, with the left-most housing a triple rear camera setup similar to current Galaxy Z Fold models. The middle panel will likely contain the cover display and a front-facing camera, while the right-most panel appears to be just a blank rear panel. The device’s hinges are of different sizes to ensure a flat fold without damaging the display. Samsung has included a warning animation advising against folding the panel with the rear cameras first due to this design.

Although referred to as “Multifold 7” in the animation files, this might be a working codename rather than the final product name. The term “tri-fold” is commonly used in the industry, although “multi-fold” might be more accurate given the two hinges. Samsung has yet to officially confirm details about the tri-fold foldable, so these insights should be viewed with caution as the final product might differ from these early depictions. The tech community eagerly awaits further updates, especially with the Unpacked event on the horizon.
