Will Wikipedia’s founder lead discussions at Edinburgh’s AI festival?

Jimmy Wales is set to discuss the future of truth and the increasing need for reliable, fact-based information in today’s digital age at an AI festival in Edinburgh. The event will feature speakers from prominent organizations such as OpenAI, the Mayor of London’s Office, and Skyscanner. Notable participants include Dex Hunter-Torricke, who has held senior communication roles at SpaceX, Facebook, Google, and Google DeepMind; Colin Jarvis from OpenAI; Amanda Brock; and Theo Blackwell. Under the theme “Intelligent Futures,” the festival aims to explore the impact of data and artificial intelligence on industries and society, focusing on trust, governance, and long-term effects. Paul McMillan, who manages community and events programs at The Data Lab, emphasized the importance of addressing AI’s capabilities alongside governance, trust, and long-term benefits. The event seeks to foster meaningful dialogue among technology, government, and academia to shape Scotland’s approach to AI. The complete conference program will be unveiled on April 27.
