Will the 20th-anniversary iPhone feature a custom micro-curved OLED panel?

For its 20th-anniversary iPhone, Apple plans a major redesign with a bezel-less display that curves around all four edges. The company is working with Samsung to create a custom micro-curved OLED display that is both brighter and thinner than current panels. This design aims to offer a softer feel in hand and more natural edge swipes. Apple is exploring a “pol-less” display approach, removing the polarizer layer to enhance brightness and reduce power consumption. Instead, a new anti-reflective coating will address reflection issues. Additionally, a crater-shaped light diffusion layer will ensure even brightness across the screen. The anniversary model, expected in 2027, could feature an all-glass design without display cutouts. While under-display Face ID may not be ready by then, Apple is testing under-display camera technology, leaving possibilities open for future innovations.
