Will Apple’s 20th-anniversary iPhone make bezels disappear with a ‘Liquid Glass’ display?

Apple is gearing up for a significant redesign for its 20th-anniversary iPhone, incorporating cutting-edge screen technology to enhance the viewing experience by concealing display bezels. The new design features a display that wraps around all four edges, utilizing a quad-curved panel from Samsung. This innovation promises a distinct departure from traditional curved screens, with subtle curvature and advanced optical techniques potentially making bezels nearly invisible. Additionally, Apple plans to integrate Samsung’s OLED technology, COE, to create a brighter and thinner display that may be dubbed the “Liquid Glass Display.” As Apple aims for an uninterrupted screen with no cutouts, challenges remain in integrating Face ID and the selfie camera beneath the display. While some analysts are skeptical about under-display Face ID by 2027, others remain optimistic. If full integration isn’t possible, a combination of under-display Face ID and a minimal hole-punch for the camera could be the solution.
