How did Apirone restore Litecoin operations so quickly after the network reorg?

Apirone, a crypto payment processor, swiftly resumed Litecoin operations within a day following a network incident on April 25. Despite the disruption, user funds remained secure. The Litecoin network faced a 13-block reorganization due to an attempted exploit of the MimbleWimble Extension Block (MWEB) protocol. An attacker submitted a block with incorrect MWEB data, causing upgraded nodes to reject it and encounter a bug that halted normal mining. Nodes with outdated software continued extending the invalid chain. Mining pools collaborated to overtake the faulty chain and restore consensus. The Litecoin development team promptly released an update to address the issue. Apirone responded by updating its nodes to the latest version, re-syncing with the valid chain, re-verifying transactions, and restoring balance displays. Outgoing transactions were temporarily halted, but incoming operations continued to be logged. Full Litecoin processing was back on track within 24 hours. Following the incident, Apirone announced an upgrade to its notification system, enhancing real-time alerts for various events via Email, Telegram, and Discord.
