Will the Samsung Galaxy S IV Feature Floating Touch and a New AMOLED Display?

New details have emerged about Samsung’s forthcoming flagship, the Galaxy S IV, revealing some innovative features. The device is expected to incorporate floating touch technology, akin to the Air View feature, allowing users to preview content by hovering a finger over the screen. Additionally, the Galaxy S IV will introduce a new “green PHOLED” AMOLED display, reportedly 25% more power-efficient due to its use of green-yellow hues.

A teaser video for Samsung’s Unpacked event hints at this groundbreaking screen technology, suggesting it could be as revolutionary as the advent of color television. The Galaxy S IV is also set to run on Android 4.2.1, with a planned update to 4.2.2 soon after its release. It will feature a new camera capability known as Samsung Orb, which enables 360-degree photography.

The device will debut a refreshed Samsung TouchWiz interface, a 13-megapixel rear camera, an Exynos Octa processor, and 2GB of RAM. Two prototypes are reportedly in development—one with the Exynos Octa and “green PHOLED” display, and another with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 chipset and Super LCD 3 display. Stay tuned for more details as we cover the launch event in New York City next week.
