What are the new features of Samsung’s OLED display?

Samsung Display has unveiled its latest innovation in smartphone OLED panels, the Sensor OLED Display, at the SID 2026 expo. This cutting-edge panel combines high picture quality with advanced privacy and health monitoring features. The 6.8-inch display boasts a pixel density of 500ppi, marking a 33% improvement over last year’s model, aligning it with the clarity of current flagship smartphone screens.

The panel integrates organic photodiodes (OPDs) alongside OLED elements through a co-deposition process. These OPDs enable the measurement of heart rate and blood pressure using light emitted from the display. Although not explicitly stated, the panel may also possess fingerprint detection capabilities, a feature present in last year’s version.

Incorporating Flex Magic Pixel technology, the Sensor OLED Display enhances user privacy. It employs a mix of narrow-angle and wide-angle pixels, with the wide-angle pixels deactivated to restrict side-angle visibility, focusing light directly towards the user. This technology was previously seen in the Galaxy S26 Ultra, marketed as Privacy Display.

Achieving high resolution with this display was challenging due to the need to arrange RGB and OPD pixels within a single layer. However, Samsung Display successfully reached a resolution of 500 PPI through sophisticated panel design and precise process control technologies, according to a company official.
