Apple has agreed to pay $250 million to settle a class action lawsuit concerning accusations of false advertising and unfair competition. The lawsuit stemmed from the delayed release of personalized Siri features, which were initially promoted during the launch of the iPhone 16 in September 2024. These features, part of the Apple Intelligence initiative, were showcased at WWDC 2024 but were postponed in March 2025, leading to the removal of related advertisements. The legal action claimed that Apple misled consumers by advertising features that were either non-existent or misrepresented, prompting purchases under false pretenses. Despite not being found guilty of any wrongdoing, Apple chose to settle to avoid prolonged litigation. The settlement provides U.S. customers with compensation for affected devices, potentially ranging from $25 to $95 per device depending on the number of claims. Eligible devices include various iPhone models purchased between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025. Notices for claims will be sent out within 45 days.
