Could Samsung’s next foldable finally be the one to buy?

Rumors are circulating that Samsung is developing a wider foldable phone, potentially named the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide, which could be released later this year. Despite my hesitance to transition from traditional smartphones to foldables, one technical aspect of this new model has captured my interest: the 4:3 aspect ratio. Samsung’s previous Fold models have attempted to merge phone and tablet functionalities, but their unusual aspect ratios have often compromised the tablet experience. The anticipated 4:3 inner display of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide might strike the right balance, offering a more tablet-like experience in a simpler, single-hinge design. While this model may not be perfect, it could be the most compelling hybrid device for those seeking a tablet that can transform into a phone, rather than the other way around.
