A security alert was issued in Bengaluru after the discovery of gelatin sticks near the route planned for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has joined the investigation after two gelatin sticks were found near a footpath close to the Art of Living campus, located on the outskirts of the city. These items were discovered during routine security checks conducted before the Prime Minister’s convoy was set to pass, approximately 3 kilometers from the main venue.
The suspicious items were found inside a box, which also contained matchsticks and an object resembling a mobile phone battery, all wrapped in adhesive tape. This raised concerns that the items may have been deliberately placed there. The discovery prompted a coordinated response from local police and central security agencies.
Authorities suspect that an unidentified person may have placed the box at the location the night before the Prime Minister’s scheduled arrival. In response, several special teams have been formed to investigate the scene and monitor any movement in the surrounding area. CCTV footage from nearby locations is being reviewed to detect any suspicious activity.
The NIA has dispatched a team to assist Karnataka Police and gather initial details at the site. Senior officers from Bengaluru South district, led by SP Srinivas Gowda, are overseeing the investigation. Additional teams have been deployed in Kaggalipura and surrounding areas to conduct searches and follow leads. Senior officers, including those at the ASP level, have inspected the site multiple times as part of the ongoing inquiry.
Police sources suggest that the manner in which the items were packed and abandoned indicates potential planning, although the exact motive is still unclear. Authorities are exploring whether this was intended as a security threat or if it is part of a larger conspiracy.
Given the timing and location along the Prime Minister’s travel route, the case has been classified as sensitive. Security measures have been intensified across the area, with coordinated efforts between state police and central agencies as investigators work to identify the individual responsible.
