How is Google enhancing file sharing between Android and iPhone?

Google has unveiled enhancements to its file sharing capabilities, simplifying the process for Android users to transfer files to iPhone users. The Quick Share feature, already compatible with Apple’s AirDrop on certain Android models, is set to expand to devices from Samsung, OPPO, OnePlus, Vivo, Xiaomi, and HONOR by 2026. For Android devices lacking AirDrop compatibility, Quick Share now offers a QR code option to facilitate instant content sharing with iOS devices via the cloud. This QR code feature is being deployed to all Android devices, with full availability expected within a month. Additionally, Google plans to integrate Quick Share into popular apps like WhatsApp soon. In collaboration with Apple, Google has also streamlined the transition from iPhone to Android, a requirement under Europe’s Digital Markets Act. While Apple has already incorporated this feature in iOS 26.3, it will be available for Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel devices by 2026. This transition process supports the wireless migration of eSIM, passwords, photos, messages, apps, contacts, and Home Screen layouts between devices. Google has also developed tools to facilitate switching from Android to iPhone.
