Samsung has introduced its Galaxy A57 5G and Galaxy A37 5G smartphones to the Kenyan market, integrating flagship AI and software features into its midrange lineup. This launch reflects a shift in the smartphone industry, focusing on software longevity, creator tools, and flexible financing over mere technical specifications. The new A series targets consumers who use their smartphones for both personal and professional purposes, particularly young content creators and online entrepreneurs. Prices for the A57 5G start at Ksh 60,900, while the A37 begins at Ksh 49,100. Samsung is also offering a buy now, pay later option through LOOP FLEX, allowing consumers to pay a 10% deposit and the remainder in installments over 3 to 12 months. This approach caters to the Kenyan market, where midrange smartphones often exceed immediate disposable income. The launch event, dubbed Galaxy Hangout, emphasized photography, video creation, and AI-assisted editing. Samsung demonstrated practical AI applications for tasks like image cleanup and content editing. The company promises up to 6 years of Android OS and security updates, enhancing the devices’ long-term value. Both models feature 120Hz AMOLED displays, 5,000mAh batteries, and triple rear cameras with 50MP primary sensors, along with IP68 water and dust resistance. Samsung also highlighted battery optimization and introduced Samsung Care Plus for the A-series, offering a 1-year screen replacement program. This launch positions the A-series as more than just hardware, serving as an entry point into Samsung’s broader ecosystem of connected devices and services.
