Samsung, traditionally reliant on its own Samsung Display for OLED panels in its premium smartphones, might soon diversify its suppliers. The upcoming Galaxy S27 series could incorporate OLED panels from the Chinese manufacturer BOE, which is offering its panels at a lower cost than Samsung Display. Samsung MX has been assessing BOE’s panels and, with no significant technical issues detected, BOE is nearing the required quality standards. If successful, BOE will join Samsung Display as a secondary supplier. This move could result in significant cost savings for Samsung amid rising prices for RAM and storage components. The Galaxy S27 lineup is expected to feature four models—Galaxy S27, Galaxy S27+, Galaxy S27 Pro, and Galaxy S27 Ultra—with most units using Samsung Display panels and some potentially integrating BOE panels.
