Android manufacturers are reportedly considering adopting a staggered launch strategy similar to Apple’s, where high-end and standard models are released at different times. This approach is seen as a direct challenge to Apple, aiming to compete more effectively rather than addressing logistical issues. Apple is expected to implement this strategy with the iPhone 18 lineup, launching the Pro models and the first foldable iPhone in fall 2026, followed by the standard models in spring 2027. The delay is partly due to supply chain pressures and a strategic move to maximize revenue from premium models. Supply chain analysts believe this strategy could prevent diluted marketing efforts as Apple’s device lineup grows and better compete with Chinese Android brands that typically release their flagships in the first half of the year. If Android brands follow suit, it would signify a shift from their current practices, where brands like Samsung and Xiaomi launch their flagship models simultaneously or in a staggered manner favoring entry-level models first. This new strategy would prioritize premium models, reversing the current trend.
