Samsung is set to raise the prices of several of its smartphones, including the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy Z Fold8, due to a crisis in DRAM supply. Starting in early June, consumers in Europe, beginning with Greece, can expect to pay between €100 and €200 more for these devices. The extent of the price hike will depend on the amount of memory each model contains, with more memory leading to higher increases. This change primarily affects high-end models, as Samsung’s more affordable Galaxy A series has already seen significant price increases. Despite producing its own DRAM and flash memory, Samsung’s divisions operate independently, compelling the smartphone division to absorb higher memory costs. This decision to pass on these costs to consumers, rather than reducing profit margins, could potentially benefit competitors like Apple, who are unlikely to follow suit with price increases.
