How can Samsung’s new OLED panel make laptops thinner?

At Computex 2026, Samsung Display has revealed a range of 16 OLED panels, including an ultra-slim design specifically for gaming laptops. This innovative panel is over 20% thinner than previous models, achieved by refining the thin-film transistor and encapsulation glass layers, reducing their thickness by more than 30% without compromising structural integrity. Despite its slim profile, the panel maintains high performance, boasting VESA DisplayHDR True Black 1000 certification for exceptional black levels and brightness. It supports a refresh rate of up to 240Hz, leading the market in OLED laptop panels. Additionally, it has achieved VESA’s highest ClearMR rating of 11000, ensuring superior clarity in motion content.
