What’s new in Samsung’s Galaxy Z series unveiled at Unpacked 2025?

At the Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event in New York, Samsung unveiled its latest line of foldable smartphones, introducing three new models: the Galaxy Z Fold7, the Galaxy Z Flip7, and the budget-friendly Galaxy Z Flip7 FE. This launch marks a strategic move by Samsung to enhance its premium offerings while making foldable technology more accessible with its first lower-cost foldable device.

The Galaxy Z Fold7 is a top-tier device, featuring a slimmer and lighter design. It includes a 6.5-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X cover screen and an 8-inch internal display, both offering up to 2,600 nits of brightness. Powered by a custom Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, it supports up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. The camera system is highlighted by a 200MP wide sensor, with AI tools for superior low-light photography. Enhanced multitasking features and Galaxy AI integration, such as Live Translate and personalized daily summaries, make it a productivity powerhouse.

The Galaxy Z Flip7 enhances the clamshell design with a larger 4.1-inch FlexWindow, providing easy access to apps and widgets. It features a 6.9-inch internal display and runs on the Exynos 2500 chipset. With a 4,300mAh battery, it offers the longest battery life in the Flip series. The device integrates AI for voice commands and smart summaries, and includes a 50MP main camera optimized for FlexCam angles.

The Galaxy Z Flip7 FE is Samsung’s first Fan Edition foldable, designed for consumers interested in foldables at a lower price point, starting at $899. It includes a 6.7-inch main display, a 3.4-inch external screen, and a 50MP camera. While lacking some premium features, it retains essential AI functionalities. Powered by the Exynos 2400 with 8GB RAM, it offers up to 256GB of storage and a 4,000mAh battery.

Samsung’s new lineup underscores its commitment to leading the foldable market, offering devices that cater to both premium and midrange segments. All models will be available globally from July 25, with pre-orders already open. In Pakistan, these models will be introduced in phases, with pre-orders expected to start in late July. Pricing will vary based on local taxes and configurations.
