Samsung is known for its dual-chip strategy in its flagship Galaxy S series, alternating between Exynos and Snapdragon processors depending on the region. However, for the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Samsung is changing its approach to cut production costs. Traditionally, Samsung used its Exynos chips to save money, but this year, the Snapdragon processor is the more economical choice due to a price increase in the Exynos 2600 chips. This price hike is attributed to low production yields and high development costs. In contrast, Qualcomm has reduced the price of its Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 to remain competitive. Consequently, Samsung will employ a dual-chip strategy for the Galaxy Z Flip 8, with Exynos 2600 chips expected in most markets except the U.S., Canada, Japan, and China, where the Snapdragon chips will be used. This strategic shift highlights an internal pricing conflict within Samsung and demonstrates a new cost-saving approach for the company.
