At the WWDC 2026, Apple introduced exciting new features for CarPlay with iOS 27, including the ability to watch videos via AirPlay in vehicles when parked. This functionality is available in new models that support CarPlay video streaming. Users can select their car’s display from the AirPlay menu on their iPhone to enjoy videos on the vehicle’s screen. Developers can now create CarPlay apps with video browsing capabilities, allowing users to find videos directly within CarPlay.
To ensure safety, video playback is only possible when the car is stationary, making it ideal for moments like waiting at the airport or charging an electric vehicle. Additionally, CarPlay will feature the more advanced “Siri AI,” accessible on iPhone 15 Pro and newer models, offering instant assistance such as finding trail recommendations.
Apple also announced enhancements for CarPlay, including audio scrubbing in the Now Playing interface, improved GPS accuracy, a mini-player for audio apps, and better wireless CarPlay reliability. These features require an iPhone with iOS 27, currently available in developer beta, with a public beta expected in July and a full release in September.
