What Do We Know About iPadOS 27?

iPadOS 27, the newest update for Apple’s iPad software, was recently showcased at WWDC and is now available for developers. A public beta is expected in July, with a full release slated for September. This update brings significant enhancements, including a revamped Siri AI that leverages generative AI models similar to ChatGPT, enabling more natural interactions and complex task completion. Siri AI is capable of accessing personal data across apps like Mail and Messages, and it can now perform actions such as drafting emails and adding calendar events. A standalone Siri app has been introduced, offering a dedicated interface and conversation history synced across devices.

The update also includes Visual Intelligence, which provides detailed information from screenshots and supports Apple Pencil annotations. New features in the Photos app, like AI-driven editing tools, enhance image manipulation and sharing. Safari and the Passwords app benefit from AI enhancements, improving organization and security. The Shortcuts app now supports natural language requests, while the Maps app offers enhanced Flyover experiences.

iPadOS 27 enhances multitasking and performance, making app launches and file transfers significantly faster. Parental controls have been revamped, offering real-time app monitoring and new safety features. The update is compatible with a range of iPads, including the latest iPad mini, iPad, iPad Pro, and iPad Air models. Siri AI will initially be available in English, with plans to expand to other languages, although it will not be available in the European Union or China at launch.
