The upcoming iPhone 18 is set to feature 12GB of RAM, enabling advanced on-device AI capabilities and improved Siri functionalities. Apple’s announcement at WWDC 2026 highlighted that the enhanced Siri model will offer more expressive voices and significant accuracy improvements in dictation, both of which require 12GB of unified memory. While the current iPhone 17 lacks this capacity with only 8GB of RAM, the iPhone 18 will bridge this gap without increasing its price. This move marks Apple’s effort to standardize memory across the iPhone 18 lineup, aligning with earlier reports suggesting a 50% memory increase from its predecessor. Apple has already engaged its RAM suppliers to boost production of LPDDR5X chips, maintaining partnerships with major memory manufacturers like Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron. Despite the higher procurement costs, Apple plans to keep the starting price at $799. The iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and a foldable variant are anticipated for a fall 2026 release, with the iPhone 18, iPhone Air 2, and iPhone 18e expected in early 2027.
