In the latest iOS 27 update, Apple has introduced a new design for Siri, presenting it as a glowing pill-shaped orb that emerges from the Dynamic Island. This design cleverly conceals the true cutouts, much like other Dynamic Island animations. While Siri is represented as a circular orb in most places, including the new Siri app icon and promotional artwork, its pill shape on the iPhone is currently dictated by the existing Dynamic Island hardware.
Speculation is rife that the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro will feature a narrower Dynamic Island, potentially allowing Siri to adopt a circular design on these models. This change is anticipated due to the relocation of Face ID components beneath the display, which would reduce the cutout size by approximately 35%, from 20.7mm to 13.5mm in width. Prototype images and screen protector leaks have hinted at this development.
Both iOS 27 and the iPhone 18 Pro series are expected to be released this fall, promising exciting changes in Apple’s design approach.
