The Anambra State Government has allocated N80 million to support 80 startups while celebrating the graduation of 400 technology professionals. This initiative is part of the state’s strategy to enhance its digital economy and broaden technological opportunities. At an event in Awka, each startup that completed a 12-week incubation programme received N1 million. The programme aimed to equip participants with essential business skills. Governor Chukwuma Soludo emphasized the state’s commitment to diversifying the economy through technology and innovation, aiming to transform Anambra into Africa’s Silicon Valley. Chinwe Okoli, CEO of Solution Innovation District, highlighted the impact of the startup funding programme, which has supported over 111 startups, and the 1 Million Anambra Digital Tribe initiative, which has reached 264,000 people. Additionally, 300 participants graduated from a robotics training programme, and 100 from an ISP Network Engineering Programme. Ifeanyi Adirika of Connekt Broadband announced a N1 billion Connectivity Fund to enhance broadband access, providing opportunities for new network engineering graduates. These efforts aim to address skill gaps in Nigeria’s tech sector and prepare professionals for roles in digital infrastructure.
