How are Galaxy Watches accelerating medical research?

Samsung has teamed up with Alcedis, a digital clinical research organization, to accelerate medical research and drug development. By utilizing data from Galaxy Watches, the partnership aims to provide substantial evidence for clinical trials in the medical and pharmaceutical sectors.

Smartwatches, worn continuously throughout the day and night, can collect far more data than sporadic hospital visits. However, transforming this raw data into actionable medical insights presents a challenge for clinical research firms. Samsung and Alcedis are collaborating to overcome this obstacle.

Samsung will supply advanced smartwatch hardware, biometric sensor data, and technical infrastructure, while Alcedis will ensure compliance with stringent medical research standards, engage patients, and manage clinical studies. The research will leverage Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis, Electrodermal Activity, and medical-grade monitoring for sleep apnea and atrial fibrillation using Galaxy Watches.

This collaboration enables researchers to establish studies more swiftly and gather superior data remotely, expediting the development of new medications and healthcare innovations. Samsung and Alcedis aim to make medical research and clinical trials more cost-effective and efficient through this partnership.
