What Are the New AirPods Features in iOS 27?

With the release of iOS 27, Apple introduces several new features for AirPods, enhancing user experience and functionality. One of the most anticipated updates is the introduction of a custom equalizer, allowing users to adjust lows, mids, and highs, a feature previously resisted by Apple. This customization is available for AirPods with an H2 chip, including the AirPods Pro 2, Pro 3, AirPods 4, and AirPods Max 2.

The settings menu for AirPods has been redesigned for better organization and accessibility. Key features like Transparency, Noise Cancellation, and Adaptive modes are easily accessible, and a new volume slider has been included. The menu is now categorized into sections such as Audio & Routing, Hearing Health, and more.

Siri AI integration offers enhanced interaction through a connected iPhone, although it is not yet a standalone feature for AirPods. Future developments may include AirPods with cameras to further expand Siri AI’s capabilities.

For the AirPods Pro 3, the charging case now supports Ultra Wideband technology, enabling Precision Finding with both iPhone and Apple Watch. Additionally, GymKit syncing allows heart rate data from the AirPods Pro 3 to be shared with compatible gym equipment.

Accessibility improvements include Name Recognition, alerting users who are deaf or hard of hearing when their name is mentioned, with support for over 50 languages.

These updates require iOS 27 and the latest AirPods firmware, with a public beta available in July and a full release expected in September.
