What are the new features in Proton Lumo 2.0?

Proton has unveiled Lumo 2.0, an upgraded version of its AI assistant focused on privacy. This latest iteration introduces significant enhancements, including a revamped architecture that offers improved performance with Fast and Thinking modes. Fast mode emphasizes speed, while Thinking mode is tailored for complex reasoning. The new version is reported to be 76 percent faster in responding to queries compared to its predecessor, Lumo 1.4.

Lumo 2.0 also features advanced multimodal capabilities, allowing users to generate and recognize images, upload images for analysis, and edit visuals within the same interaction. The AI’s web search functionality has been significantly enhanced, and a new Memory feature enables Lumo to learn user preferences and adapt to ongoing contexts, with an expanded context window.

Additionally, Lumo 2.0 introduces Custom Lumos, which allows users to create specialized assistants for specific tasks, such as structuring research answers. The service is accessible for free at Lumo.proton.me, with optional integration with Proton accounts for encrypted chat history storage across devices. Mobile apps are available for both iPhone and Android users.

For those seeking more advanced functionalities, Lumo Plus offers unlimited chats, projects, enhanced image generation, and priority model access for $12.99 per month. Teams can opt for the Lumo Professional plan, providing secure collaboration at $14.99 per user per month, with current discounts available for both subscription plans.
