How is Samsung using AI to optimize 5G networks?

Samsung has revealed the successful completion of a trial for its AI-driven 5G network optimization technology, conducted in collaboration with Japanese mobile network operator KDDI. The trial, which took place on KDDI’s 5G Standalone (SA) network, demonstrated notable enhancements in data download speeds. Utilizing Samsung Networks’ AI-powered RAN Speed Optimizer (RSO) technology, download speeds on KDDI’s 5G SA network saw an improvement of over 31% during peak times and up to 52% in densely populated urban areas. This performance boost was achieved through an innovative approach that departs from traditional optimization methods. Instead of applying uniform parameters across all cell clusters, the RSO employs an AI-based prediction algorithm to analyze data from network sites, recommending tailored parameters for each cell. This adaptability to changing network conditions also enhances overall network efficiency.
