Over 40 African nations are taking part in the IndabaX Nigeria 2025 conference at Summit University in Offa, Kwara State, with more than 300 AI experts, researchers, and tech enthusiasts present. The event, described as the largest continental AI gathering, involves over 30 tertiary institutions. It will also see the launch of the fourth generation of AI technology by a pan-African team. Professor Abiodun Musa Aibinu, Vice Chancellor and expert in Mechatronics Engineering and AI, emphasized that AI would create new job opportunities rather than exacerbate unemployment. He described AI as a transformative force in commerce, education, agriculture, and national security. Innovations include AI-powered solutions for smallholder poultry farms and enhanced security through drones and machine vision. The conference focuses on knowledge democratization, ethical AI, and practical solutions for Africa’s challenges during the fourth industrial revolution. Mr. Ahmed Olanrewaju and Mrs. Ganiyat Afolabi-Yusuf highlighted the event’s role in fostering innovation and collaboration.
