Why was the LEGO iMac G3 Bondi Blue project placed in the Parking Lot?

LEGO has announced that a fan proposal to recreate the Bondi Blue iMac G3 on its LEGO Ideas platform has been moved to “Parking Lot” status — a designation that means the project has not been rejected and still has a chance to become an official set.

The iMac G3 project sent for review
Submitted in August 2025 by user terauma, the model reached the 10,000-support threshold on LEGO Ideas, qualifying it for evaluation by the LEGO Review Board. Moving the project to the Parking Lot signals that LEGO is taking additional time to assess the submission rather than dismissing it outright.

A faithful Bondi Blue recreation
The build faithfully reproduces the iconic iMac G3 design: an all‑in‑one chassis, the distinctive “hockey puck” mouse, a matching keyboard and associated cables. The designer used translucent LEGO elements intended to match the Bondi Blue hue and added internal details — including a cathode‑ray tube and a circuit board — to boost the model’s authenticity.

How the Ideas process works and what it means
On LEGO Ideas, any project that reaches 10,000 votes is reviewed by the Review Board; some proposals are selected for production, others are rejected, and some are placed in the Parking Lot for further consideration. In the third review of 2025, the Board examined 75 qualifying projects: three were chosen for production, four — including the iMac G3 — were moved to the Parking Lot, and the remainder were rejected.

Why LEGO is taking extra time — and what could happen next
LEGO says that Parking Lot status can involve further internal discussions. In this case, it’s possible the company will enter talks with Apple to secure any necessary licensing or permissions. If those discussions succeed, the design could still become an official LEGO set; if not, it may remain in the Parking Lot or ultimately be declined.
