Floaty Studio, a young Saudi mobile-game studio, has secured $1 million in a funding round led by Merak Gaming Fund. The capital will be used to accelerate development of new titles and support the growth strategy of the company, which was founded in 2023.
Floaty Studio ramps up development
The injection of funds will enable Floaty Studio to expand its teams and speed up production across its current pipeline. Active projects include Pirasea, a pirate-themed strategy game, and Hero Squad, an action title centered on clashes between heroes and hostile robots. The studio is targeting international audiences with a clear focus on mobile releases.
A specialized investor and national momentum
The round was led by Merak Gaming Fund, the game-focused investment vehicle managed by Merak Capital. The fund is part of a broader push to consolidate Saudi Arabia’s game development ecosystem, where specialized funds are increasingly channeling capital into local studios. Merak Gaming Fund has previously backed several sector startups, including Qwacks and Khosouf Studio.
Capital and support programs
Merak Gaming Fund operates under an $80 million investment vehicle and complements Exel by Merak, an acceleration program that has invested more than $5.1 million in 17 startups since its launch and continues to accept applications for new cohorts. The program provides both capital and hands-on support to help local studios scale and compete internationally.
This deal underlines a regional trend: targeted capital and support programs aimed at turning local ambitions into global gaming successes, beginning with studios like Floaty Studio.
