How did Emergent raise $130M to reach a $1.5B valuation?

Emergent raises $130M in Series C, valued at $1.5B — one year after launch

Indian startup Emergent has closed a $130 million Series C round that values the company at $1.5 billion, just one year after it was founded. The company offers an AI-powered, no-code platform that enables individuals and small businesses to build digital applications without technical expertise.

A rapid valuation surge in one year
Emergent’s jump to a $1.5 billion valuation within twelve months highlights the intensity of investor interest in AI- and generative software-focused startups. The Series C follows several earlier funding rounds and signals strong investor confidence in Emergent’s business model and growth trajectory.

AI-first product focused on accessibility
Emergent positions its platform as a no-code solution enhanced by generative AI, automating much of the development work to simplify creation of digital tools. The company says more than 12 million applications were launched on the platform during its first year, mostly by users without formal programming training. Emergent emphasizes a diverse user base spanning multiple industry and commercial sectors.

Expansion priorities and business model
Emergent plans to deploy the new capital to hire technical talent, deepen R&D, and accelerate international expansion. Revenue is reportedly balanced across North America, Europe and Asia. The company is prioritizing small and medium-sized businesses — a segment it says has long been underserved by full-scale digital transformation.

CEO Makan Jha argues the future of software will be AI-driven, and that people “closest to the problem” are best placed to build their own tools — a philosophy that informs the company’s product and go-to-market strategy.

The road ahead
As the market shifts globally toward generative software, Emergent aims to become a go-to option for non-specialists building digital tools. The key challenge will be converting this rapid, broad adoption into durable revenue and international market share.
