Sources previously suggested a release window between late 2026 and early 2027; a recent revision now points to a more likely launch in early 2027, citing the global semiconductor shortage as a driving factor.
Why Samsung was chosen
According to the same report, Apple did not select LG Display or China’s BOE for this program, citing yield and efficiency concerns as well as capacity constraints at those suppliers.
