Polar has raised $5.7 million in seed funding to accelerate development of its AI browser that automates complex workflows directly in the browser. The startup, co‑founded by Kevin Jiang, Vishaal Ram and Howard Zhong, aims to offload repetitive tasks — clicking, filling forms, switching between pages — where most knowledge work actually happens.
An AI browser that acts on your behalf
Unlike the first wave of “AI browsers” that focused on page summarization or answering queries, Polar’s pitch is operational: its agent interacts with web apps like an authenticated user. It clicks, types, navigates and executes sequences of actions that can run from minutes to several hours without human intervention. The company says it has completed tasks lasting more than 15 hours.
Traction, performance and use cases
Polar says it won its first customers mainly through referrals during its first seven months on the market. Users have executed more than 4.5 million browser actions across recruiting, sales, operations, marketing and research. The company also claims its agent outperforms comparable systems from OpenAI and Anthropic on browser‑agent benchmarks.
Funding and investor support
The round was led by Madrona, with participation from individual investors including former GitHub CEO Thomas Dohmke and Modal founder Erik Bernhardsson. Madrona highlights demand for automation tools that go beyond conversational interfaces and act directly on existing workflows. “Their work lives in the browser, and Kevin, Vishaal and Howard have built the first agent that can operate there,” said Sabrina Albert, partner at Madrona.
Team and roadmap
The three founders bring backgrounds from MIT, Perplexity and quantitative investment firms. Polar says it will continue to expand its automation capabilities and that its platform is available now via its website.
Positioned as an automation layer for knowledge workers, Polar focuses on automating repetitive browser tasks and integrating with existing web applications so teams can delegate digital workflows without reengineering their tool stack. The new funding should allow Polar to accelerate product development, expand its automation features and grow the team.
