How will Antora Energy’s $550M funding accelerate thermal battery development?

Antora Energy raised $550 million in a Series C round to accelerate production of its modular thermal batteries, which help heavy industry and data centers cut costs and run on more renewable energy. The round, closed earlier this month, was co-led by Eclipse and G2 Venture Partners.

A round led by major investors
Participants include Breakthrough Energy Ventures, the fund backed by Bill Gates, and Decarbonization Partners, the joint venture between BlackRock and Temasek Holdings. The new capital will fund construction of a second factory dedicated to manufacturing Antora’s modular units.

Thermal batteries to support the shift to renewables
Antora’s thermal energy storage systems can be paired with renewable generation or the grid to deliver high‑temperature energy—an attribute particularly useful for industrial heat processes and power‑hungry infrastructure such as data centers. Antora is already working with industrial partners, including Poet LLC, on a project in Big Stone City, South Dakota.

Expected impacts on production and the supply chain
The new factory is intended to boost Antora’s production capacity to meet growing demand for flexible storage solutions that integrate with renewables. The funding should also accelerate commercial deployments of the modules and smooth adoption among industrial customers and data center operators.

Positioned for the energy transition
With significant new funding, Antora Energy can expand its manufacturing footprint and continue developing its thermal technology, positioning the company as one to watch in the decarbonization of energy‑intensive sectors.
