Fish Audio has closed a $52 million seed round led by Coreline Ventures and Capital Today, with participation from 359 Capital, Parable, Play Time and other institutional investors. The startup, which focuses on AI-driven voice generation, emphasizes models designed to boost the expressiveness of synthetic voices.
A major seed round for an AI voice startup
The $52 million raise marks a significant milestone for Fish Audio as it seeks to differentiate itself in the AI voice market. Coreline Ventures and Capital Today led the round, joined by several other funds and institutional backers.
A researcher-turned-founder and a pragmatic approach
Fish Audio was founded by Shijia Liao, a former researcher at NVIDIA. Frustrated by the limited expressivity of available synthetic voices, she trained her first model on a single GPU and open-sourced it. That technical, open approach became the starting point for Fish Audio’s product strategy.
Products already live: five models launched
Over the past 12 months, Fish Audio has released five models: four for voice generation and one for speech-to-text. The rapid expansion of its product portfolio demonstrates a clear push to address multiple use cases around AI-driven voice.
Why this raise matters
The funding underlines investor appetite for solutions that make synthetic voices sound more natural and expressive. Coming after an active first year of development and model launches, the capital positions Fish Audio as a startup to watch in the AI voice space. With a research-rooted founding team and an established product trajectory, the company is using its early successes to strengthen both its technological footprint and commercial reach.
