One UI 9 beta arrives on Galaxy S25 — full changelog

Samsung has released the first One UI 9.0 beta for the Galaxy S25 series, rolling out to the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, Galaxy S25 Ultra and Galaxy S25 FE. The update introduces one new Galaxy AI feature plus a range of UI, DeX, Notes and accessibility improvements.

What’s new in One UI 9 beta

The only new Galaxy AI feature in this beta is the Pay Now function for Now Brief. Beyond that, the changelog details refinements to the quick panel, Samsung DeX, Samsung Notes, location access transparency and multiple accessibility enhancements.

More customizable quick panel

You can now rearrange and further customize quick panel controls. The update lets you change the size of the brightness and volume sliders and the media player, and it allows you to separate the sound mode button from the volume slider.

Samsung DeX enhancements

Moving an app window between desktops is easier using the menu at the top of the window. Desktop previews now appear at the top of the Recents screen, enabling quicker switching with a single tap.

Do more with Samsung Notes

Samsung Notes gains a Tape feature that lets you cover parts of a note with tape and reveal them when needed. A variety of new pen styles have also been added for more options when writing and drawing.

Location access transparency

A blue indicator will appear at the top of the screen when an app accesses your location. Tapping that indicator in the quick panel shows which app is using location data.

Discover new Accessibility features

The update adds several accessibility features and recommends checking the “What’s new” menu in Accessibility settings to learn about and try them. Notable additions include:

– Text spotlight: tap any text on the screen to show it enlarged and highlighted in its own window; font size, colors and other settings can be customized.
– Physical keyboard shortcuts: use keyboard shortcuts to open Accessibility settings without touching the screen.
– Mouse keys enhancements: new options for keyboard-driven mouse interactions, including speed and acceleration control, and the ability to use the keyboard number pad to point and click.
– Replace swipe with single tap: this option has been moved from the Assistant menu to the Dexterity and interaction menu for easier access.
– Select to speak: select an item on screen (text or an image) to hear it read or described aloud, providing quick audio readouts without enabling full TalkBack.

The changelog also lists improved TalkBack updates, without further detail in this release note.
