The iPhone 18 Pro Max houses the largest battery ever in an iPhone and delivers the longest battery life in the lineup, with up to 45 hours of video playback; both iPhone 18 Pro models also last longer than the iPhone 17 Pro models.
iPhone 18 Pro Max battery life details
The iPhone 18 Pro is rated for up to 24 hours of typical use, up to 36 hours of video playback and up to 33 hours of streaming video. The iPhone 18 Pro Max is rated for up to 30 hours of typical use, up to 45 hours of video playback and up to 40 hours of streaming video. By comparison, the iPhone 17 Pro lasted up to 33 hours of video playback and the iPhone 17 Pro Max lasted up to 39 hours; streaming video was 30 hours for the 17 Pro and 35 hours for the 17 Pro Max. Apple says the iPhone 18 Pro gains three hours of battery life and the 18 Pro Max gains six hours versus the prior models. Apple also notes its “typical use” metric is based on median iPhone usage and includes messages, photo captures, music, social app use, streaming, games, browsing, and navigation.
Charging performance and preorder
Both iPhone 18 Pro models offer faster charging: they can reach a 50 percent charge in 15 minutes when using a 60W or higher Adjustable Voltage Supply power adapter, and up to a 50 percent charge in 30 minutes with a 35W adapter. The phones support up to 25W MagSafe and Qi2 charging. Preorders for the iPhone 18 Pro models begin on Saturday, September 12 at 5:00 a.m. Pacific Time.
