Apple says the iPhone Duo will ship with iOS 27.1 when it launches this October, which provides a clear hint at when the first major iOS 27 update will be released.
iOS 27.1 release timing
The iPhone Duo will be available on October 23, and Apple will accept pre-orders on October 16, a week ahead of the launch. Because the device ships with iOS 27.1, the update should be released shortly before October 23. Last year iOS 26.1 did not arrive until November 3; iOS 27.1 is expected about two weeks earlier.
iOS 27.1 changes for the iPhone Duo
iOS 27.1 will include updated app layouts built for the iPhone Duo’s dual displays and its new vertical dock.
iOS 27 and iPhone 18 Pro timing
The iPhone 18 Pro models will ship with iOS 27 and are set to launch on September 18. iOS 27 will launch on September 14, and the iPhone Duo arrives just over a month later.
