Wyre AI Raises $5M Seed to Automate Preconstruction Risk

WASHINGTON, DC — Wyre AI announced $5 million in pre-seed and seed funding on September 10, 2026, in a round led by Ironspring Ventures with participation from WND Ventures (the corporate venture arm of DPR Construction) and the Virginia Innovation Partnership Corporation (VIPC). Angel investors in the round include Amar Hanspal, Rajesh Ram, Joseph Khoury and other construction industry veterans.

Wyre AI is an AI-powered document intelligence platform that converts drawings and specifications into structured, trade-specific scopes, risk insights and traceable references for the construction industry. The company says the capital will be used to expand R&D, product development and its go-to-market team to meet demand from general contractors, subcontractors and construction managers.

“I spent a decade in preconstruction & operations before I ever built software for it, and the job hasn’t fundamentally changed: a few people read thousands of pages under a deadline and hope nothing gets missed. That isn’t a staffing problem — it’s a technology problem. Having co-founded Pype, which Autodesk acquired in 2020, I’ve seen firsthand what better information, delivered earlier, can do for a project. At Pype we proved construction documents could be made machine-readable. With Wyre AI, we’re going further — turning them into scopes teams can bid on and risks they can act on before a project ever breaks ground. Preconstruction is where fee margins are locked in, and that’s true for every contractor, on every project, everywhere in the world. This funding accelerates our mission to modernize preconstruction across the globe and give every project a stronger start.” — Sunil Dorairajan, Founder & CEO, Wyre AI

Industry context underlines the opportunity Wyre AI targets: a 2024 Dodge Construction Network study found coordination issues can erode an average of 10% of contractor profit margins, and prior research cited in the announcement estimates more than $177 billion in annual U.S. construction labor is lost to rework and unresolved conflicts. Wyre AI positions its technology as a way to surface scope gaps, contradictions and compliance issues earlier in the preconstruction lifecycle.

Wyre AI platform and products

The company describes two core products. Wyre Scopes ingests complete drawing sets and specification books to extract, organize and format trade-specific scope packages, a workflow Wyre AI says can reduce scope-drafting time by up to 80%. Wyre Check cross-references drawings against specifications to surface hidden gaps, contradictions and compliance issues pre-bid, aiming to catch RFI-risk items that could otherwise lead to costly downstream change orders.

“Scope development and document review are among the most demanding and time-intensive parts of preconstruction. When teams are under pressure, gaps and inconsistencies can happen. We’re currently piloting Wyre AI with our estimating teams, and early findings indicate the technology could reduce scope development efforts by approximately 100 to 350 hours per project, depending on project complexity and team size. Beyond the time savings, the technology could help drive more consistent scope coverage, clearer bid communication, better traceability and fewer scope gaps and duplications. Those early indicators of efficiency and quality are what make the technology compelling for our teams.” — Hannu Lindberg, Construction Technology – Project Planning & Execution, DPR Construction

Investors and early users highlighted domain experience and pilot traction. “I backed Sunil’s previous company, Pype (acquired by Autodesk), because we fundamentally believed construction documents needed to work harder for the builders using them,” said Ty Findley, Co-Founder and General Partner at Ironspring Ventures. “Wyre AI takes that conviction to the next level by bringing Sunil’s deep domain expertise upstream into preconstruction — the phase where the highest-stakes decisions are made and margins are set. It’s a massive challenge we see across our network of builtworld operators, and it’s exactly why we are thrilled to lead this round and back Sunil again.”

Early users cited practical benefits across preconstruction and early operations. “I’ve known Sunil for many years and have watched him consistently bring innovative solutions to the construction industry. When Wyre launched, BE&K was pleased to participate in an early pilot and collaborate with the team as the platform evolved. The experience was positive, the platform gained acceptance among our users, and we ultimately expanded our investment in Wyre across additional projects. We’re proud to support Sunil and the Wyre team as they continue to advance technology for the preconstruction industry.” — Kevin Bredeson, Vice President Preconstruction + Technology, BE&K Building Group

“Wyre AI accelerated our buyout process almost immediately. It’s not just a preconstruction tool — our operations team used it across scope writing and buyout, surfacing scope gaps and conflicts before they could affect the project. Whether you’re onboarding a new APM or managing concurrent buyouts, it makes the whole team efficient.” — Dylan John, Project Manager, Rycon Construction

Wyre AI says customers using the platform include Okland Construction, Jacobsen Construction, BE&K, Rycon Construction, Miller Davis, MCN Build, DiPasquale Construction and Cardella. To date the company reports it has analyzed more than 250 projects, identified more than 250,000 scopes and issues, and supported over $3 billion in project value.

With the new funding led by Ironspring Ventures and participation from WND Ventures and VIPC, Wyre AI plans to scale product development and commercial efforts to meet increasing interest from builders seeking to reduce preconstruction risk and improve bid clarity.
