Apple has published official battery capacities for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max models that retain a physical SIM tray, and Xcode 27 reveals the amount of RAM in the new Pro models.
iPhone 18 Pro battery capacities
Apple’s EU energy labels list the battery sizes for the SIM‑tray versions: the iPhone 18 Pro has a 4,056 mAh battery, a 1.7% increase over the iPhone 17 Pro’s 3,988 mAh; the iPhone 18 Pro Max has a 5,391 mAh battery, an 11.7% increase over the iPhone 17 Pro Max’s 4,823 mAh. The Pro Max therefore receives a substantially larger battery uplift than the Pro compared with the previous generation.
eSIM‑only models of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will be sold in Bahrain, Canada, Guam, Japan, Kuwait, Mexico, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the U.S., and the U.S. Virgin Islands. In all other countries, including the U.K. and the rest of Europe, the devices include a physical SIM tray. Apple says eSIM‑only models are fitted with a slightly larger battery that occupies the space otherwise used by the SIM tray; the exact battery capacities for eSIM‑only iPhone 18 Pro models have not been confirmed.
RAM and system details
The latest Xcode 27 includes entries showing both the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max carry 12GB of RAM. Xcode does not yet list the iPhone Duo; that device uses the same A20 Pro chip as the iPhone 18 Pro models and is therefore expected to have 12GB of RAM as well. iPhone 17 Pro models also had 12GB of RAM, so there is no RAM increase versus the previous generation for the Pro lineup; the iPhone 17 (non‑Pro) used 8GB of RAM.
Apple continues to cite industrywide RAM chip shortages affecting supply and costs. In the U.S., the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max start at $1,199 and $1,299 respectively, a $100 increase to the starting prices compared with the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Apple said preorders open Saturday, September 12 at 5 a.m. Pacific Time, and the devices will launch on Friday, September 18.
