Samsung’s clip-on earbuds, the Galaxy Buds On (model SM-U600), have cleared Federal Communications Commission (FCC) certification, suggesting the product could arrive in the coming weeks.
Galaxy Buds On wireless specs revealed by FCC
The FCC documentation shows the Galaxy Buds On support Bluetooth EDR and LE (1Mbps and 2Mbps), as well as Qualcomm High Speed (QHS) modes at 2Mbps, 3Mbps, 4Mbps, 5Mbps and 6Mbps. This indicates the earbuds may offer some form of relatively higher-resolution audio support, likely SSC-UHQ.
Design, fit and omissions
Earlier leaks revealed the Buds On use a clip-on form intended to sit around the ear’s helix. The visible outer area appears to feature a flat surface, likely for touch controls, while the portion that rests in the ear concha is bulbous and presumably houses the audio driver. The Galaxy Buds On reportedly lack active noise cancellation (ANC) and 360 Audio; the open-ear design does not create a physical seal in the ear, so ambient noise is naturally let in, making ANC relatively ineffective.
Features and accessory details
The earbuds are said to include Auto Volume and Volume Boost features. FCC filings and product information also indicate onboard support for Bixby and Gemini; users might be able to record audio and have the transcribed text summarized and saved as ideas or meeting notes in Samsung Notes. The FCC documents additionally reveal the case design and the placement of the FCC label on the charging case.
