Design the Next iPhone lets users customize a virtual iPhone

An interactive website called “Design the Next iPhone,” created by developer Neal Agarwal, lets users design a virtual iPhone by dragging and dropping components onto a rotatable 3D model, combining conventional features with deliberately impractical accessories.

How the virtual iPhone builder works

The tool starts with a bare iPhone model that can be rotated in 3D; users drag and drop items onto its surface. Cameras, volume buttons, Lightning ports, Home buttons and Apple logos can be placed anywhere on the device, and multiple copies of each item are available for unconventional layouts.

Beyond standard smartphone parts, the site offers a headphone jack, HDMI port, an Apple Watch-style Digital Crown and a hinge. Users can also add an Android or pear logo, a rotary dial, an antenna or a classic iPod click wheel; more absurd options include a steering wheel, a joystick and a Mac Pro “Pro Wheel”.

Users can customize color and wallpaper, give their creation a name, and select “Present” to generate a mock Apple product presentation that includes a fictional price based on the components and a pop-up of former Apple CEO Tim Cook praising the design. The finished iPhone can be downloaded as a rotating video.

Visit the site to try making your own.
