Samsung has started rolling out the Android 17-based One UI 9 update to more Galaxy S25 FE and Galaxy S25 Edge units in the United States. The update is reaching both factory-unlocked (U1) and US carrier-locked (U) variants and includes the September 2026 security patch.
Multiple S25 FE units are receiving firmware S731USQU9CZIF, while S25 Edge units are getting S937USQU9DZIF. Samsung previously released the update to select Verizon users late last week; the current distribution expands availability to additional carrier-locked and unlocked phones in the US.
One UI 9 features and changes
One UI 9 is based on Android 17 and emphasizes Galaxy AI features. The update brings My FanCam, which can automatically keep a selected person centered in video, improvements to Now Brief with new customizable cards, and a new Call Brief feature that surfaces relevant information during calls. The release also includes minor UI refreshes and other system tweaks.
How to check for and install the update
If you own a Galaxy S25 FE or S25 Edge in the US, check for the update by going to Settings > Software update > Download and install. If One UI 9 is available, tap Install now; the phone will restart and boot into the new software once installation finishes.
Android 17 stable for these models currently appears to be live in Korea and the US, while users in other global markets are still waiting. The article noted that tomorrow, Tuesday, could be a promising day for the global One UI 9 rollout for the Galaxy S25 and Z7 series, though rollout timing remains regional and carrier-dependent. The staged distribution continues, and One UI 9.5 has not been released to anyone yet.
